I'm "self-made" but am I self-made or am I just privileged and don't realize it? Analyze my success story: how I got here, what helped, what advantages I had. Then map every advantage I've discounted: family support, education access, no debt, connections, safety net, race/gender in my field, timing, health, stable childhood, etc. Expose what I'm calling "self-made" that actually had invisible infrastructure. Show me where I had help that I've forgotten or minimized. Reveal: self-made is a myth; we all have help. The question is: can I acknowledge mine? Include: what privileges I've been blind to, what help I received that I discounted, and whether I'm self-made or just selectively remembering the hard parts while forgetting the advantages.
