I'm "neurodivergent" but am I neurodivergent or did I just not develop certain skills and I'm medicalizing it? Analyze what I call neurodivergent: what struggles? Since when? Then reality-check: neurodivergence is neurological difference (ADHD, autism, etc.); skill deficits are just underdeveloped abilities. Map my "neurodivergent" traits and expose: is this how my brain is wired or is this just skills I never learned? Show me where this is legitimate neurological difference vs. where I'm using neurodivergent language to avoid accountability for skills I could develop. Include: whether I'm neurodivergent or just unskilled, what I'm excusing through neurodivergent identity, and if I need accommodation or just need to learn.
